Michael has spent his career creating strategy and driving tactics on both the client and agency side. His leadership in the digital world combines areas including brand, direct, database and loyalty marketing with a deep knowledge of social media and community building. He brings a multi-disciplinary approach with a foundation in results measurement, conversion and analytics.

Michael is currently Director, Digital Marketing & Trade at Canada Post where he leads all marketing strategy and product marketing for Canada Post’s Digital Delivery Network.

Prior to joining Canada Post, Michael was Director, Head of Digital Marketing and Accessibility Services at CNIB where he created and led digital strategy for the organization. Michael also founded and is Principal of Level C Digital, a consulting practice that helps brands develop long term marketing strategies. He consults and advises both consumer-based and business-to-business organizations on how to succeed in the ever evolving digital world.

Michael’s experience includes over a decade as Director, Digital Marketing at Scotiabank where he led the bank’s digital strategy across Canada.  Michael also served as Vice President, Marketing at boutique agency based in Ottawa and Toronto and has held other senior agency roles in his career.

Michael is an active speaker across the globe and has educated audiences with his two decades of experience in the advertising, marketing & communications industry. His work has been recognized with numerous national and international marketing awards throughout his career.

Michael currently teaches Canada’s only Professional Certificate Course in Digital Marketing. He  is the author of the Canadian Marketing Association’s Guide to eMail Marketing and co-author of the CMA’s White Paper on Mobile Marketing and the co-creator of the Canadian Marketing Blog.

His own marketing blog, The Client Side (the interweb site where you are reading this bio!) was rated a “Top Ten Must Read” by Marketing Magazine as well as being listed on Advertising Age’s “Power 150” marketing blogs.

Michael served as a Director, Board of Directors, Canadian Marketing Association and Chair of the Digital Marketing Executive Council.  He is a Director, Board of Directors with AIMS – Association of Internet Marketing & Sales where he also chaired the Events portfolio and is a past member of the Advertising Executive Council with the IAB – Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada.
